A recent interview with Lourita Stofberg about typing, filing, shopping, people, processes and what motivates her.
What inspired you to start AdminAssist, and what continues to inspire you?
We all have strength zones – groups of activities that we are good at, that energise us and that never feel like work at all. I strongly believe that everyone is better off operating in their strength zone and allowing others to support them in their weaker areas. If we help each other we increase our mutual impact and extend our reach!
This is the drive behind AdminAssist. Many business owners hate admin or aren’t any good at it at all. We like it and we’re good at it! So we function in our strength zone and the client functions in his. It’s win-win.
How does your business reflect you as a person?
In its variety and morality. I suffer from a case of, as one friend puts it, ‘everything becoming increasingly interesting.’ Because of this wide field of interest I enjoy coming into contact with all the different entrepreneurs and businesses this country has formed. South Africans are if nothing else, some of the most innovative and determined people in the world.
Furthermore, we try to always to the right thing. It’s a case of reaping what you sow...and if you don’t operate your business ethically you can only expect to get what’s coming to you.
What is the one element that makes AdminAssist the successful company that it is?
Our assistants, without a doubt. We employ only the best. And we try to make sure that the assistant and client are a match with regards to aspects such as communication, skills required and personality.
Where do you see your company in 5 years?
I’m hoping we’ll be a team of about 30 assistants and that we’ll be serving clients from Australia and the USA. Because of the time difference they can send us work, go to bed and the next morning the work will be in their Inbox...How convenient is that?
